About the exhibition

The exhibition from the collections of the City Gallery Prague is one of the most outstanding personalities of Czech modern art, painter, sculptor, graphic artist and art theorist, Emil Filla. The author’s rich fund obtained sequentially from the sixties to late eighties of last century amounts to one hundred works. Selection presented in the exhibition organized by the 130th Filla’s birth anniversary represents the author’s diverse creation, which has gone through many changes.

The exhibition introduces the fundamental lithographic portrait of Dostoevsky and numerous convoluted Cubist still life. There is also a female figural themes and small sculpture. An important part of the works presented are prints created for Halas poetry collection cycle of hope and Torso of Herakles, which passed on Filla Halas request poetic accompaniment.
