Matej Benko is a musician originally from a musical and artistic family. After getting to know many Slovak musicians begins to take jazz. Instead of piano, he starts to play an electric synthetysator. That was why in 2000 he went to study at the Jezkova conservatory in Prague not in the field of piano, but music. With his bands (trio, quartet, quintet) plays mostly his own compositions. It combines elements of various musical styles. His work is characterized by rich melodies, extended forms, and frequent changes of meter.
Cast formation in the classical (piano, bass and drums) was founded in 2000 in Prague with Mexican pianist Mark Aanderudem. This cooperation culminated in the recording of the CD, which was awarded the Harmonie magazine in the category: Best Czech jazz recording of 2002. Later that year, replaced Mark Aanderuda young Slovak pianist Matej Benko. The trio performs regularly in and outside Prague jazz clubs and festivals.
